Food Waste Friday – Not as bad as you think

FoodWasteFriday Every Friday, Kristen over at The Frugal Girl posts a picture of her food waste. She invites other bloggers to join in her effort to save money and reduce the amount of food that gets thrown away in our country every day.

This week, I wasted not-strawberries.  Yes, you read that right.  I mean, I’ve had sub-par grocery store strawberries in the past, but these were seriously the most tasteless strawberries I’ve ever eaten.  Like crunchy water.  I almost don’t feel like I’m wasting food here.  At least they’ll go into the compost pile, where they *might* add nutritional value to my soil?? I’m really not sure. This is one of the reasons I just set 25 1 year old strawberry crowns out in the garden – I hope I never have to eat another tasteless strawberry again!!

  1. Good luck with your strawberries. I hope you will blog about them. I really hate when I buy produce from the store like that. I get tasteless grapes and strawberries more than anything.

  2. Is where you say something like, “Good riddance!”

  3. Jess says:

Hate when that happens. I try and buy that kind of stuff at the farmer’s market, I seem to get less tasteless food there. But at least that’s all you wasted!
