Food Waste Friday – Compost Fodder

FoodWasteFriday Every Friday, Kristen over at The Frugal Girl posts a picture of her food waste. She invites other bloggers to join in her effort to save money and reduce the amount of food that gets thrown away in our country every day.

This week’s waste – a small sweet potato and just a little bit of leftover collard greens.  The sweet potato was a fridge casualty – if I had known it was there, it would have surely gotten eaten.  The collards, well, they were at the front of the fridge.  I bought them, and they were ooookay but not great.  No excuse here, just didn’t eat them.  Luckily both can go into the compost, so it’s not a complete waste.

This weekend my daughter is off to have fun with her grandma, so there’s going to be lots of fun and homestead-y kinds of stuff going on this weekend (not that we don’t do fun stuff when she’s here, it’s just the pace slows down considerably 😉 ).  What are your plans?

  1. Have a great weekend. I hope the weather cooperates with you. Good job with not very much waste.

  2. Awesome job! Too bad about the collards, I love them cooked with lots of bacon. We’ve got a fundraiser, a load of dirt to move and a wedding shower this weekend. Never a dull moment C:

Have a fun weekend! Not too bad of a week, even if the potato was forgotten.
